Troentorp Clogs are made of high quality raw materials using the method of "wet lasting" that is unique to Troentorp.
The heart of the clog is the wooden base, orthopedically carved from selected alder wood, this is a process that has been used for over a hundred years. Alder wood is used because it is light, has good moisture absorbing qualities but above all maintains its shape and form. Then the last is nailed to the base (hence the nail hole in the base) and the leather upper is stretched over the last and nailed to the base, after which the excess leather is trimmed.
Three of the special features that make Troentorp clogs unique:- The wooden base is carved from 60mm alder wood to allow for the optimal curvature giving the clogs the correct profile.
- The upper is "wet lasted", that is stretched over the last rather than nailed first and then having the last forced into the clog to form it.
- Troentorp uses specially made nails instead of staples.
These methods are part of a 100 year old tradition that has not been curtailed for economic reasons, therefore our clogs are a little more expensive.
